LAY DEVOTEE Upᾱsaka, Upᾱsikᾱ

ဥပါသက -     ဥပါသကာ၊ ရတနာသုံးပါးကုိ ကုိးကြယ္ဆည္းကပ္သူ ေယာက္်ား။

ဥပါသိကာ -    ဥပါသိကာမ၊ ရတနာသုံးပါးကုိ ကုိးကြယ္ဆည္းကပ္သူ အမ်ဳိးသမီး။

ရတနာသုံးပါးကုိ ဆည္းကပ္ကုိးကြယ္သျဖင့္ သရဏဂုံ တည္သူမွန္သမွ် ႀကီးငယ္မဟူ အမ်ဳိးသားမ်ားကုိ ဥပါသကာ၊ အမ်ဳိးသမီးမ်ားကုိ ဥပါသိကာမ ဟုေခၚသည္။

A male devotee who takes refuge in the Three Gems, is an Upᾱsaka.

A female devotee who takes refuge in the Three Gems, is an Upᾱsika.

All male devotees, old and young alike, are called upᾱsakas, and all female devotees, old and young alike, are called upᾱsikᾱs.
